A Singh's Gaze

When the Mother of the World [Goddess] took form in front of Guru Gobind Singh, he was extremely pleased.
He thought in his mind, 'where best in my body should I place her form? The purest place on the body is the eyes' - so that's where the Guru Gobind Singh, the Virtuous, placed the Goddess [and closed his eyes to hold that energy/form].
[The Guru Thought] "No one will be able to stand in front of my Panth, I will instill in their eyes this piercing radiance [of the Goddess]. That Rehatvaan [keeper of the code] Singh and Sikh of mine will be able to destroy any enemy just by their [piercing] gaze.
By themselves they'll be able to fight against many Turks, this is the strength that I will bestow upon the Panth I started." So this is why the Guru closed his eyes when seeing the Goddess, to instill Her power into the eyes of his Singhs.
