Forgiveness defeats Anger - Prabodh Chandar Natak

The Prabodh Chandar Natak, written by Pandit Gulab Singh in 1789, is a Braj Bhasha version of the Sanskrit, Prabodhchandrodaya, written by Krishan Mishra in the 11th century. The text, a play, is an allegorical battle between the virtues and vices, with the intention on displaying how certain vices are defeated by their counterpart virtues. The passage below is a response from Forgiveness, to the King Bibek [discerning intellect] on how he will destroy Anger. So Forgiveness said, "Listen Bibek to the way in which I will defeat Anger; whenever confronted with Anger I will remain silent. If that does not work, and they continue to shout obscenities, then I will with a loving nature speak back in humility. If they continue with their anger and begin to curse me, then I'll fall at their feet and plead with them for compassion. 90॥ And if they begin to beat me, then I'll happily reply saying, You are removing my past sins"
