Tiger Vision vs. Dog Vision - Suraj Prakash

Guru Hargobind expounds upon the difference between Kukar Drishti [a Dog's Sight] and Sher Drishti [a Tiger's Sight] to the congregation which had come to mourn the death of Baba Gurditta. ⁣

"Who else [But the Divine] gives and takes life? All the Saints have understood this, just like if a tiger is hit with a staff, the tiger keeps his focus on the attacker [not the staff].⁣

If someone strikes a dog, the dog blames the staff, opening its mouth he tries to grab the staff but neglects the attacker. ⁣

This type of outlook, the Sight of a Dog [Kukar Drishti] is held by Manmukhs, they think, oh this man killed, or this person gave me happiness, or this person gave me pain. ⁣

Gurmukhs constantly have the Sight of a Tiger [Sher Drishti], they recognize both happiness and pain arising from Kartar [the Creator]. That one cannot love or loathe anything else [but Kartar], they understand Paramesvhar [the Highest Ishvar] as the illuminator of peace. ⁣

There are countless vices that arise as a result of having this Dog's Sight [Kukar Drishti], which results in countless reincarnation."⁣

Gurpratap Suraj Prakash (1843), author: the Great Poet Santokh Singh ⁣
